The roles of the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer are separate and the two operate independently of each other.
J F Marais is an independent non-executive Chairman and is responsible for:
- Providing overall leadership of the board
- Ensuring that the board operates effectively
- Together with the Nomination Committee, assessing the performance of the Chief Executive Officer
- Together with the Chief Executive Officer, assessing the performance of the other executive directors
