Internal audit
The Head of Internal Audit and Risk Management provides Growthpoint Properties' internal audit function in-house. This entails: 
Meeting with the Audit Committee to agree on an audit plan for the year
Preparing an audit strategy for the year, for approval by the Audit Committee
Attending the meetings of, and reporting to, the Audit CommitteeMeeting with the external auditors to co-ordinate planning and promote their reliance on internal audit work performed
Meeting with the external auditors to co-ordinate planning and promote their reliance on internal audit work performed
Carrying out the internal audit work, including the testing of controls, according to the agreed internal audit plan
External audit
KPMG Inc is the external auditor of Growthpoint and its subsidiaries. The independence of the external auditor is recognised, and annually reviewed, by the Audit Committee. The external auditors attend all Audit Committee meetings as well as attending the AGM each year. They also have unrestricted access to the Chairman of the Audit Committee.
